The original Cop Out trailer hasn’t inspired much hope in viewers and critics across our great digital nation, and the deluge of television spots only make it seem less appealing. Cop Out just doesn’t look like a Kevin Smith film at all. However, everyone is still holding out some hope (I mean, he really did get Harold Faltermeyer to do the score!), and good test reviews have popped up on Ain’t It Cool News. For what it’s worth, the test screeners said the trailers were misleading crap.

Perhaps Warner Bros has realized this, because they’ve released a Red Band trailer to MySpace. Now this looks more like a Smith film (though his name is still notably missing), and more like the raunchy buddy cop comedy we were expecting. It’s definitely funnier, and you can mentally re-edit the trailer you’ve seen with the R-rated lines you get here. My concern now is that between the two trailers, we’ve seen anything and everything that’s remotely chuckle worthy. On the other hand, neither trailer gives a hint of the plot, so maybe there’s something more to Cop Out. Whether it’s good or not? Well, that’s the kicker.

The new, naughtier Cop Out trailer is embedded below. It goes without saying that since it’s Red Band (no peeking, young readers), it’s NSFW. It’s Friday though, so maybe you can get away with it.

If you’ve been following the lucky BNAT attendees on Twitter, you saw the early Kick-Ass reactions. Once our own John Gholson became conscious again, he even wrote up his own review / reaction of the film over on SciFi Squad. If you’ve recovered from your jealous rage, you can have a taste of the film courtesy of UGO. It’s quite a taste too, because you’ll finally get to meet Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) and his young daughter and protege, Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz).

The clip originally premiered at this year’s ComicCon, but has now been extended just for the unlucky masses who missed Kick-Ass in San Diego and in Austin. I don’t want to spoil the clip for you, but it’s just enough to convince you that it may be one of the craziest and creepiest performances Cage has ever given. You know that’s saying something. I still maintain that Hit Girl is my daughter, and not Cage’s, and through an unlucky twist of fate, he’s the one responsible for training her in the ways of vigilantism. She takes to it like a natural though. Watch the clip to see just how well — but I must warn you it’ll ask for your birthday and it’s definitely NSFW.

Kick-Ass blasts into theaters on April 16, 2010. In the meantime, if you know anyone who went to BNAT this year, cross them off your Christmas list. They already got their present from the entire universe.

Cinematical has just received three exclusive images from the Michael Cera-starring Youth in Revolt, the film coming at us from Chuck & Buck director Miguel Arteta. Cera plays Nick Twisp, a too-smart-for-his-own-good teen virgin whose trashy parents take him on a “vacation” to a trailer park in Ukiah. Nick isn’t entirely thrilled with the trip until he meets his neighbor, Sheeni Saunders (Portia Doubleday). He falls hard, and when he has to head back home to Oakland, he creates a French counterpart named Francois Dillinger to help him win over the girl of his dreams. As Erik Davis described in his review, “together, Nick and Francois embark on a dangerous journey where laws will be broken, French will be spoken, drugs will be taken and nerves will be shaken — all in the hopes of winning over the heart and soul of one Sheeni Saunders.” And in case that’s not enticing enough, Erik says Cera’s performance is “easily the best of his career.”

Aside from three great images of Nick with his love and alter ego (in the gallery below), a red band trailer just hit Funny or Die, and you can check it out after the jump. This is red band which means all of Nick’s lascivious musings, inopportune arousal, and sexual preparation makes this trailer NSFW. But it’s well worth the time.

Should everything go as planned this time around, we should finally see the comedy greatness for ourselves on January 8, 2010. Definitely make sure to catch this one — it’s most certainly an unexpected treat.

Fair warning right out of the gate: the below video is A) Not Safe for Work, unless you conduct business in a place in which no one has ears, and B) targeted for a very specific group of people.

If you’ve been eagerly anticipating James Cameron’s Avatar for years, if you think the man who delivered to the world Terminator, Aliens, and True Lies can do no wrong, and if the backlash to the unveiling of Avatar’s colorful aesthetics baffles you, you may want to stay clear of Landline TV’s spoof on Cameron’s addiction to big budget special effects, which portrays the famous director as little more than a CGI crackhead. It’s too silly to call mean spirited, yet it’s also too acute to call playful ribbing, but those movie geeks among us who are growing tired of a Hollywood that makes grandiose promises but only ever delivers familiar campaigns of supersaturated digital shock-and-awe might get a kick out of what it takes for Cameron to get his motion-capture fix.

However, even if you’re a big supporter of Cameron and the bold approach he’s taken to bringing us a new, original science fiction property (as I will readily admit I am), a special little cameo by Michael Bay should put a smile on your face. It’s crude, but it’s short; and what day isn’t complete without a little bit of YouTube fun, anyway?
